Charles Dickens: Storyteller
Origins Theatre is proud to present its authentic and entertaining re-creation of 'Charles Dickens: Storyteller' - capturing the atmosphere and energy that captivated audiences during Dickens' own time. Dickens was not just the greatest novelist Britain produced (in our humble opinion!), he was also famed for the energy and enthusiasm with which he read extracts of his own stories. Now audiences can experience this all for themselves, anywhere in the South of England.
'Realistic and compelling'
Origins Theatre founder and director, Kevin Wilson, becomes Charles Dickens: capturing not only his appearance, but the style of presentation that made Charles Dickens a highly sought after performer, attracting enthusiastic audiences wherever he appeared.
We are available to stage performances to suit any organisation and event: after dinner entertainment; corporate hospitality; a community event; a festival ... either as the main performance of the day or evening, or as an occasional appearance at different times, including mingling with the crowds.
Please contact us by email initially, giving us as much information as possible about your event and the timings. Kevin will respond to all requests personally, ensuring you get exactly the performance/s that suit your needs, at a realistic and fair price.
Please send a message to firstname.lastname@example.org, with 'Charles Dickens: Storyteller' in the subject line.

Bringing Dickens back to life!
Origins Theatre specialises in new and original drama, and one of its first productions was a highly acclaimed stage adaptation of 'Hard Times' in which Kevin and three other performers played all the main characters and scenes with the aid of speedy and minimal costume changes. Since then, Kevin has performed all the characters in abridged readings of 'A Christmas Carol'; played the Victorian traveller Furzan in a stage adaptation of 'The Signalman', and appeared as Charles Dickens: Storyteller at events.
Kevin is an experienced and highly respected actor, director and playwright, and a lifelong fan of Charles Dickens. Like Dickens, he started out in journalism, but - although he did write a novel once - that's where the similarity ends. Until now!
Kevin has collected many of the stories and extracts that Dickens himself chose to read at his public performances. Some are dramatic, some are funny, some are fascinating insights into Victorian life. Above all, they are written in Dickens' unique style, and with a range of characters no writer has ever been able to match!
