Shakespeare's longest play was pared down by Origins Theatre to provide a sharp focus on the price people pay for pursuing revenge. It retained the beauty and the poetry of Shakespeare's language but put the focus on the characters of the main players, bringing out their emotional struggles, the manoeuvring, the uncertainty, the deceit, and the human frailty we can all identify with, all of which contribute to 'the tragedy of Hamlet'.

Origins Theatre's production of William Shakespeare's Hamlet was performed on August 15 and 17 at the Ventnor Fringe; August 23 at Chale Church, and August 30 2013 at The Depozitory, Ryde.

Led by Josh Pointing, as Hamlet, and directed by Hannah Brewer, the cast delivered an outstanding performance which audience members said stood comparison with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
